More stories

This project involved people over 60 years of age, in Ireland, telling their lifestories. However, there are many other stories to tell... The stories of younger people with disabilties are just as important. The stories of younger people can help us to understand what life is like now for people with intellectual disabilties- what opportunities are there? What are people doing with their time? How has life changed in services?

As part of the project, the research team ran a series of workshops with a wide range of service providers, research groups, students and interested parties. The individuals who have been involved in these groups are now beginning to research and tell their own lifestories.

This space will soon fill with the stories that extend beyond the original scope of this project. The stories of younger people with disabilties, the stories of service providers, siblings and family members of people with disabilities, and the stories of those who work on a day-to-day basis with people with disabilties can only add to the understanding of what life is like, and how things can be changed in Ireland.

So, if you have been working on your lifestory, and would like to share it in this archive, please contact the Lifestories research team, by emailing Zoe on zhughes@tcd.ie
