Business Partners

A core aim of our work in the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities Centre is that our graduates should have the same opportunities in life as their fellow graduates of Trinity College, including opportunities for further education, meaningful ongoing employment and the ability to contribute to their local community.

Our Business Partners play a central role in helping achieve these outcomes for students. The companies involved in the Business Partners network represent significant relationships for our students which are essential for educational placements and establishing opportunities for transition to sustainable employment.

The continued involvement of Business Partners enables us to deliver key aspects of our mission and provide transformative opportunities for students, including:

  • Student Work Placements
  • Mentoring / Coaching
  • Ongoing Employment
  • Funding for:
    • Scholarships
    • Assistive Technology
    • Research Development

Student Work Placements

From the student point of view, the work placement experience is of huge benefit in terms of increased independence and self-esteem. The skills developed as part of the placement go far beyond the daily tasks that the student is taught to complete. The ideal outcome for a graduate of the course would be to be in a position to meaningfully participate in the community and perhaps secure ongoing employment, using all the skills that they have learnt while on the course and while on placement.

From the business partner’s point of view, the work placement experience is also a very rewarding one. The placement allows businesses to work closely with, and mentor a student which helps their own staff to develop additional skills. The Centre works closely with the businesses before, during and after the placement to support them throughout.

Work Placement Programme

Paula Conradie and Kieran Biddulph, students from the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID), along with graduate Tomas Murphy tell us about their experience on work placement with some of the TCPID Business Partners.

Get Involved

We are keen to continue to grow our relationships with Business Partners and to expand the network of companies who contribute to our work by providing work placements and opportunities for students to develop key skills and competencies, enhancing their future employment possibilities.

If you would like to explore how your company can become involved in this ground-breaking programme – through providing work-placements, student mentoring or other supports – we would be delighted to work with you to find the right ‘fit’ for your company and employees. Please contact Marie Devitt at devittma@tcd.ie to find out more about how you can get involved and really make a difference to these students’ lives.

We acknowledge and thank all of our Business Partners who play a vital role in advancing the Centre's innovative work:
