The group focuses on medicinal chemistry and molecular medicine, particularly on the use of photosensitizers in photomedicine. Main research areas include: 1) high content approach for the development of novel photosensitizers, 2) porphyrins in photodynamic cancer therapy (PDT), targeting of dual modality photoactive drugs, 3) cell biological evaluation of light activated prodrugs; 4) esophageal cancer treatment. Prof. Senge holds the Chair of Organic Chemistry in the School of Chemistry and other research activities target bioorganic chemistry, new synthetic methods, and tetrapyrrole chemistry and biochemistry.
