Biography

Dr Patrick Murphy completed his PhD in the Research Centre for Psychological Health in Trinity College Dublin (TCD) in 2015, focusing on serostatus disclosure processes among HIV-positive men who have sex with men. From April 2015 to December 2016, Dr Murphy was a postdoctoral researcher within the Health Behaviour Change Research Group in the School of Psychology, NUI Galway. There he was project manager for the HRB-funded CHARMS Pilot Study, which piloted a sexual counselling intervention in two cardiac rehabilitation centres in Ireland. Dr Murphy is currently Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Disciplines of Occupational Therapy and Radiation Therapy in the School of Medicine, TCD. His research interests include sexual function among people living with chronic illnesses, disclosure, HIV, cardiovascular disease, cardiac rehabilitation, and qualitative methodologies.
