Masters in Occupational Therapy (MSc)

Welcome to the Discipline of Occupational Therapy.  Our two year part time Masters course in Occupational Therapy is designed for qualified occupational therapists interested in developing their critical thinking and research skills. It is tailored to the needs of working occupational therapists who would like to develop and improve their professional knowledge and practice through an evidence based perspective. The program is also designed to develop the student’s research knowledge, skills and confidence in order to be able to integrate research with occupational therapy practice.
Through a comprehensive and stimulating series of modules, students will develop an advanced level of knowledge in Occupational Therapy theory, with an emphasis on being able to debate and critique theory as it is applied to both national and international practice. Students will also participate and learn about the complete research process in a guided and engaging manner, from early research design through to communication and dissemination of research findings.

The Discipline of Occupational Therapy is in existence over 30 years. It is a vibrant, friendly and active discipline offering a four year honours undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy (WFOT approved) and postgraduate research degrees to PhD level. The discipline is located in the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences, a purpose built facility for the Health Science faculty on the grounds of St James's Hospital. A philosophy of self-directed learning and reflection on practice underlies the undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
