Health and Safety in Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering operates a safe working environment policy and we take all practical precautions to ensure that hazards or accidents do not occur.

Of course, safety is also a personal responsibility and it is your duty to behave and work in a safe manner when using our facilities. By adopting safe practices you ensure both your own safety and the safety of others. Please download and read the accompanying Safety Document (PDF, 390 KB) and comply with the instructions given within. For more information, please refer to the College Safety, Health & Welfare website which includes details on the Safety Training sessions. Before entering a laboratory where lasers are in use, you must attend the Laser Safety Training organised in the School of Physics. If you notice anything which you believe to be a safety hazard please bring it to my attention.
