Description

Over the last decade, the telecoms industry has seen an increase in demand for services. This has resulted in rising power output from telecoms devices and equipment, and subsequently increased heat generation in their operation. Telecoms hardware is particularly sensitive to fluctuations in temperature during operation and therefore, thermal management is essential to ensure reliable functionality. As standard conduction and natural convection cooling are becoming inadequate, a more effective method of heat dissipation from these devices is necessary. High performance thermal management hardware has the potential to increase the functionality, efficiency and reliability of these telecoms devices, while saving energy and running costs. The aim of this project is to develop two phase thermal management hardware for use in the telecoms industry. The proposed solution will have the potential to significantly reduce the energy consumption and running cost of thermal regulation of telecoms equipment.
