Engineering Innovation/Reunion Evening
Feb 24, 2014
On the evening of Friday 11th April 2014, the School of Engineering will host an exciting event in the Science Gallery, starting at 5 pm. The 'Innovation Evening' will showcase some of the exciting developments in our MAI engineering programme in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship, identified as a key strategic priority in the School's strategic plan published in 2010. In addressing these objectives, a number of collaborations have been initiated between the School of Engineering in Trinity College Dublin and leading engineering schools around the world, including Stanford, Harvard and Aalto universities. During 2012 and 2013 Professors Gareth Bennett and Kevin Kelly each spent 3 month periods in Stanford University, observing and partaking in their innovation curriculum, including the renowned ME310 Global Design Innovation program. This has led to the introduction of a new program, 4E5 - Innovation in Product Development, taught by Kevin Kelly, which sees teams of Trinity students working as part of a global team on large scale innovative design projects sponsored by industry. This year's programme sees our students working on projects for SAP, Panasonic and Spinal Injuries Ireland, and the teams will be demonstrating their prototype products at this event.
In addition to the showcase above, 2014 is the 10th anniversary of the first graduates from the 'Manufacturing Engineering with Management Science' (now Engineering with Management) programme, and we look forward to welcoming back our former students to hear about what we are currently doing and to hear about what they are doing.
Attendance at the event is free, but those planning to attend are requested to sign up at the link below:
