2011 – 2012 Research Fellowships in the Arts and Humanities
TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Eligibility
Applicants for the Visiting Research Fellowships (both stipendiary and non-stipendiary) must be established scholars of international renown, or emerging scholars with demonstrable potential to become leading academics, who wish to work at Trinity College Dublin on a defined research project.
Visiting Research Fellows will receive
Successful applicants for the non-stipendiary fellowships will:
- become members of the Senior Common Room
- receive an office in the new state-of-the art Hub Building in Fellows’ Square
- have access to all relevant libraries and research collections
- be entitled to dine free once a week at the formal Commons dinner in College
Successful applicants for the short-term stipendiary fellowships (one or two months) will:
- become members of the Senior Common Room
- receive an office in the new state-of-the art Hub Building in Fellows’ Square
- have access to all relevant libraries and research collections
- be entitled to dine free once a week at the formal Commons dinner in College
- be provided with free appropriate accommodation in Dublin
Successful applicants for the long-term stipendiary fellowships (three to six months) will:
- become members of the Senior Common Room
- receive an office in the new state-of-the art Hub Building in Fellows’ Square
- have access to all relevant libraries and research collections
- be entitled to dine free once a week at the formal Commons dinner in College
- be provided with free appropriate accommodation in Dublin
- receive the cost of a return economy flight to and from Dublin
Duties of a Visiting Research Fellow
Visiting Research Fellows will be expected to:
- conduct research among the holdings of the Library, or work with a named Trinity College Dublin academic or group of academics on a clearly-defined research project
- provide at least one lecture, workshop, seminar, or masterclass for post-graduates or staff during the tenure of their fellowship
- submit a short written report on their progress at the end of the fellowship. For the long-term fellowships, preference may be given to scholars who will be in residence for all or part of a teaching term.
- provide the Trinity Long Room Hub with one copy of any publication which results from the research undertaken at Trinity College Dublin
How to apply
Applications for 2011-2012 Visiting Research Fellowships in the arts and humanities must consist of:
- The covering sheet for the Visiting Research Fellowship.
- A summary (maximum of 2 pages) of the proposed research project and details of why you wish to pursue this research at Trinity College Dublin. The members of the selection committee are drawn from a range of disciplines within the arts and humanities, so please ensure that you explain the significance and likely impact of the proposed project as clearly as possible. Describe the anticipated results of the project (journal article, edited book, monograph, digital resource, etc.).
- A curriculum vitae (maximum of 3 pages).

5.00 p.m. (Irish time) on Friday 18 March 2011.
Notification of the results of the competition
The selection committee will be chaired by an external academic. The date for the of the selection committee has not yet been finalised, but it will be sometime in late March / early April. Applicants will be informed of the status of their proposal within 48 hours of the meeting of the selection committee.
