Support for Research
The Library provides support for academic staff, researchers and postgraduate students through its team of dedicated Subject Librarians.
The Library’s Research Information Systems & Services supplies specialised support which focuses on research communication, dissemination and reporting and on maximising the impact of the university’s research while reducing duplication and improving the flow of information.
The Research Support System is a web-based information system which allows TCD academic staff, research staff and research postgraduates to maintain and update their research profiles with information on research interests, research projects and publications. Research publications can be uploaded directly to the repository through this system. The system provides a central source for this information within the university thus allowing researchers to maximise their impact while saving time. Contact us for help with inputting infomation to the Research Support System.
TARA is an institutional repository designed to store, catalogue, index, distribute, and preserve the research outputs of Trinity College Dublin. It includes the fulltext of peer-reviewed research publications, conference papers, books and book chapters, entire journals, electronic theses, working papers and technical reports and images. Unless specifically restricted, material in TARA is open access i.e. fully accessible via Google, Google Scholar etc. and exposed for harvesting by search engines, and web-based bots and harvesters.
Generic and bespoke research reports are supplied from the Research Support System and related tools. Assistance, advice and support with bibliometric analyses and the application of other metrics is available. Please contact us for further details.
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) researchers and SFI research teams can contact the SFI Research Support Librarian in the Hamilton Library. EndNote and/or database training can be requested. The role also includes assisting SFI researchers to create research profiles within the Research Support System (RSS) and also aid deposit within Trinity College Dublin's institutional repository TARA.
