Seemed rather more bacon per man

29th November 1915 Monday

Orderly officer. Had to get up to ?take Breakfast at 7.30 – that is, not to partake of my own, but to supervise the issue of the men’s breakfast. No complaints. Tea and bacon. Seemed rather more bacon per man than yesterday or than usual. Stayed in my tent in the forenoon censoring men’s letters. Wind abating now at midday, bright warm sun and perfect blue sky. Ground showing signs of thawing in the sun but still freezing hard in the shade.
Turned in early – night apparently warmer than usual. Post in but none for me!
