Raid by hostile aircraft on Salonika and district

7th January 1916

Quiet day on picquet. Raid by hostile aircraft on Salonika and district in which apparently 4 enemy ‘planes took part. Much gun firing and machinegun firing at them including one of our guns. No report of damage yet. Mail in – one from Father and one from Wilfie Nickson who was then – 15th Dec – leaving England for Australia invalided out of the Service with shrapnel in the knee.
Father says hunting crop sent by Callaghan’s Dame Street (15th Dec)
Weather much improved again. Wind moderated and warmer.
Bloore and I chose our spot to make our dugout and start the servants on it tomorrow.
