the good weather has stopped and it is raining so that the roads are a little greasy.
Lots of people think the war is soon going to finish I dont know just why. I dont see why it shouldnt, all the same there is no particular reason why it should. I cant open your parcel yet as I am waiting to go out. I should guess sardines and jam. I dont expect Ill get a letter from you today probably tomorrow. This is a bad letter may be tomorrow Evans will have given me some news though probably his Colonel will not have solved the matter as early as that as I believe Evans is out of direct touch with GHQ. Anyway heres wishing for luck & a speedy “decision as Belloc calls it. If you should see any handy little handbook on heavy artillery maybe youd send it out I expect there are those wee War Office series dealing with gunnery
