[23 December 1916]

comfortable way back thank you and I have seen no enemy shells near at all. It is in most respects a very decent life, but I wish that I had you. There is the postie come to take the letters. It is my fault for being late but I have written this evening to Papa & Olive, hence am pushed for time & this is therefore not a letter. My love to you Darling & Araminta who seems to be getting on ok. It will be great some day.
