My dearie, At last I have a bit of leisure to write to you a more or less decent letter. To day I got a lovely pair of sox from you sent on from Maria. They are splendid ones. We have been having a half-holiday today a great rest after all of the digging of the past two days. What with the wet & cold the men were having a rather bad time and in a much lesser degree ourselves. I had a man faint “on my hands” early this morning.
