My dearest Mary, I got a letter from your father a day or so ago enclosing a letter from Mrs Farquarson to your father and also a letter of introduction for me from Kay Spencer Farquarson to Capt Dawson, a very meagre bit of a letter stating that he believed I was a good fellow and had played Rugby Football for Ireland! (He would get a shock if he saw me play Rugby Football) also that I had done my best in the Ranks. I have sent to your father at his request a list of such qualifications as I have and I hope some of the War Office people will be able to be persuaded to consider them. I fancy that Capt Dawson is successor to Farquarson in his post in the WO.
