My dearest, Two letters this evening, a great thing, dated 27 and 28 and very glad I was to get them too my dearie. Im glad Len Spalding is OK and in a nice Siege Battery, do you not think Mrs Spalding would be a great adviser? I thought she was a wise enough little woman. Containing mine of yesterday an Elephant is a round steel arch about 6 foot high in the middle and placed in sections in a deep hole, forming eventually a thing something like the London tube. In these you live and they are very nice. We are living under some now. That is the whole object of all my digging i.e. to get well down in the bowels of the earth and put in these elephants and live there and my great difficulty had been in getting down deep
