Teaching and Teaching Support
The staff members of the Department of Early Printed Books and Special Collections support the teaching programmes of various schools and departments within the College. Students and their tutors are introduced to the special collections held in the care of the Department, providing an opportunity to view early printed material related to a particular area of study.
Sessions are held in the Department’s reading room or in a classroom setting in the Old Library. In addition, the Department runs its own printing press for teaching purposes.
Our collections provide rich resources for study across an array of subjects, e.g., literature, languages, classical studies, history, and the history of art and architecture. Teaching support is organised in conjunction with academic staff and can be arranged by appointment with the Department.
A member of EPB staff will be present at all teaching sessions to ensure correct handling of materials. Academic staff should give as much notice as possible to facilitate this.
