The database is free but the access condition is that users register at the URL provided. Due to a high level of interest in this database, it may take 24-48 business hours for your registration to be completed.

The collection, Slavery in America and the World, was developed under the direction of Paul Finkelman, Ariel F. Sallows Visiting Professor of Human Rights Law at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law. It brings together every statute passed by every colony and state on slavery, all federal statutes related to slavery, and all reported state and federal cases on slavery. The database also contains hundreds of books and pamphlets written about slavery.

The crisis revolving around race relations in America and the recent events surrounding this crisis have led to the decision by HeinOnline to provide Slavery in America and the World free, to anyone with an interest in the subject: libraries, institutions, students, researchers, or any other entity within the global community.
