The Crime and Punishment research group aims to promote research being conducted in areas such as criminology and penology, criminal law and theory, evidence and procedure. It aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration within Trinity and beyond. It aims to reach out to NGOs and policy-makers working on criminal justice and penal reform. The group employs a range of doctrinal, theoretical and empirical research methodologies.
These interests correlate with Trinity College’s research themes of Inclusive Society; International Integration; Making Ireland; Genes and Society; Neuroscience; Ageing; and Identities in Transformation.
