Your username and password
New members of staff should receive their Trinity computer account username and password when they receive their ID card from Human Resources. If you did not then please call in person with your Trinity ID card to the IT Service Desk in Áras an Phiarsaigh.
The username you receive for your computer account is unique in Trinity and can consist of a combination of your surname, initials and possibly a number. If your name is Pauline Ann Bloggs, for example, your username could be pbloggs, pabloggs or pbloggs2, depending on what combination of characters is required to make the username unique. Your username remains the same during your time in Trinity.
You will use this username and password to access a range of IT services. For example, you'll need it to login to the Trinity data network, to use your Trinity email account and to access 'local' Trinity web pages from outside the University.
The password you receive initially with your username works for a wide range of the computer services you will use in Trinity. For security reasons it is important that you change your passwords regularly. See the relevant web pages on how to change your passwords for more information.
In recent years there has been an increase in the number of illegitimate 'phishing' emails. These can often appear to be coming from a legitimate source but please note - we’ll never directly ask you for your login details via email. Be watchful for phishing emails that ask you to ‘update,’ ‘validate,’ or ‘confirm’ your account information and if in doubt contact the IT Service Desk.
