IT Services Alerts - Guest wireless network changes & scheduled downtime, April 14th, 8am-9am

First Posted: Tuesday, 12th April 2011, 12.20pm

IS Services wish to advise that a replacement system for the guest wireless service will be commissioned during a one-hour downtime window between 8am and 9am on Thursday April 14th.

During this period the guest wireless service, TCDguest, will be unavailable. Additionally, to facilitate the integration of the new system some configuration changes are being made to the central wireless infrastructure.

It is anticipated that access to the guest wireless service will resume from 9am, however please note that the period from 8am to 10am on Thursday April 14th should be considered an 'at risk' period for all wireless networks during which the central infrastructure will be monitored and corrective action taken if necessary should unforeseen issues arise.

Following the introduction of the new system, authentication to the guest wireless service will be via a username and password, rather than an access code.  All authorising parties have been notified of this change.  Should you require access to the wireless guest system on or after April 14th then you will need to obtain a new username and password from the relevant authorising party.
