IT Services Alerts - TCDconnect student wireless connectivity issues

IS Services Notification - TCDconnect service scheduled downtime, Friday, Dec 2nd 2011 8am-10am
The TCDconnect service will be unavailable from 8am to 10am on Friday, 2nd December in order to facilitate an essential upgrade of the service. The upgrade has been recommended by our support partner & supplier to resolve the wifi connectivity issues that students have been experiencing over the past week.
There will be a further at risk period from 10am to 12noon on Friday during which time, in the unlikely event of problems, the upgrade may be reversed.
Access to the College Network from student residences, Library communal points and the TCDwifi student wireless network will be unavailable for this period of downtime.
This downtime does not affect staff in residences, in offices or using the staff wireless network nor does it affect the guest wireless service.
IS Services would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused.

IS Services in conjunction with the TCDconnect service supplier have identified the root cause of the connectivity issues which students are experiencing on the TCDConenct wifi network. IS Services as a priority are currently evaluating a solution to resolve this issue, which we hope to implement shortly.

Some students are experiencing connectivity issues on the TCDconnect student wireless network, TCDwifi. Similar issues experienced on the afternoon of Tuesday, 29th November, were resolved but the issue has recurred.
IS Services staff are actively working with the service suppliers to determine the root cause so as to prevent any future recurrance of these issues. IS Services would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Updates will be posted here as further information is made available.
