Resolved: Tuesday 11th September, 15:00

The following email has been sent to all Staff & Students.

--------------------

Good Afternoon

Further to our earlier email about the system-wide issue which affected BlackBoard Learn at Trinity we can now confirm user access and up-to-date module enrolments have been fully restored this afternoon for all students and staff.

We have worked, with our external support partners at BlackBoard, throughout last night and today to resolve this issue as quickly as possible but we do understand the significant impact that this issue has caused to students and staff, particularly junior fresh students.  We thank you for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience.

We will continue to actively monitor the BlackBoard Learn service and service information and updates will be provided on our website https://www.tcd.ie/itservices/ and Twitter https://twitter.com/tcditservices

If you believe you are still experiencing technical difficulties with your access or enrolment in BlackBoard please contact our IT Service Desk – see https://www.tcd.ie/itservices/help/it-service-desk-contact.php for all the ways to contact us.

Kind regards,

IT Services

Update: Tuesday 11th September, 12:15

Commencing from 12.30pm today we will be completing the work to restore access and module enrolments to all students in BlackBoard Learn.

This work will progress over the afternoon and we fully expect that by 4 pm today all users will have access and module enrolments that are up-to-date in BlackBoard Learn.

Throughout the afternoon, while you will be able to login to BlackBoard, you may notice that your module enrolments change as the updates progress.

We will confirm when this work has completed as expected and restored full service to everyone.

The following email has been sent to all Staff & Students.

Good Morning,

Yesterday evening we received reports of students using BlackBoard Learn who were encountering an error when logging in which stated:

No Learn Account is available for your external credentials.  You are accessing as a guest.  Please contact your system administrator to reconcile your account.

This was a system-wide issue which affected almost everyone who uses BlackBoard Learn at Trinity.  We have been working overnight with our external support partners at BlackBoard to resolve this issue and can now say that access has been largely restored, however, a significant number of students, particularly junior fresh students are still affected and may not be able to log in or see the correct modules.

Work is ongoing to restore access and module enrolments to all students.

Further information and updates will be provided on our website https://www.tcd.ie/itservices/ and Twitter https://twitter.com/tcditservices

Kind regards,
IT Services
