IT Services Alerts - Resolved: TCDconnect registration issues for Mac OS 10.7.2 users

Updated: Thursday, 1st March 2012, 11.30am

There is now a solution to the issues affecting those using Mac OS 10.7.2 and wishing to register for the TCDconnect service.  There are two possible workarounds to this issue:

  1. If you have access to a broadband connection off campus then the best solution is to run Apple Software Update to install the latest version of the Mac OS 10.7.  This version will allow the Bradford scan to complete for you so as to allow your computer to be registered with the TCDconnect service.
  2. If you can't get your Mac updated to the latest version of Mac OS 10.7 prior to TCDconnect registration, then follow these steps below to allow the Bradford scan to run and to be able to register your computer with the TCDconnect service:
    • Launch the keychain application, usually in the Dock
    • Click on the keychain menu, then 'preferences', then choose the 'certificates' tab
    • Make sure online certificate status protocol (OCSP) is off, also turn off certificate revocation list (CRL)
    • Exit the keychain application
    • Restart your computer
    • Sometimes the keychain application freezes so you may have to retry these steps a few times after force quitting out of the keychain application
    • After successfully registering for the TCDconnect service, please remember to undo the changes above on the OCSP and CRL options in the keychain application and restart your computer once more.

IS Services have identified an issue which has arisen since the release of Apple Mac OS 10.7.2 update which prevents the TCDconnect registration's Bradford Dissolvable Agent scan running properly and completing.  This means that users of Mac OS 10.7.2 may not be able to register and connect to the TCDconnect service.
