IT Services Alerts - Issue affecting College websites, Sat 16th & Sun 17th Aug
Updated: Tuesday, 19th August, 11am
Following a full review of the issues which affected access to the College web server (www.tcd.ie) at the weekend, here is an overview of the cause and impact:
- A hardware failure combined with a software bug resulted in the College web server (www.tcd.ie) being offline between 12 noon on Saturday, 16th August and 11am on Sunday, 17th August
- Access to Blackboard (mymodule.tcd.ie) was affected as a local login page is hosted on the College web server. The Blackboard service itself was unaffected.
- Access to SharePoint services may have been affected
Some people reported issues accessing College websites after 11am on Sunday, 17th August. These issues were due to local 'caching' of data and refreshing the web browser or deleting the histoary/cache would have resolved the issue.
Work is underway to prevent any recurrance of this issue and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
