IT Services Alerts - Complete: Upgrade works affecting College website updates between Feb 11th and 27th

The service improvement work on the College web server has been completed and all College webauthors should be able to update their sites once more using the normal Dreamweaver settings.

IS Services have scheduled service improvement work which will affect College webauthors and those who use the College web server  We are undertaking upgrade work which will take place between February 11th and February 27th and which will affect those updating College websites.

Specific details are being emailed to individual webauthors to outline the impacts on their ability to update their website(s), with different websites being affected on different days.  Broadly speaking there will be an initial period of 25 hours during which it will not be possible to make updates to the relevant website.  From the end of that period until 9am on February 27th if updates are required then it will be necessary to make temporary changes to the settings in Dreamweaver.

Webauthors can find the Dreamweaver configuration instructions on our website, and the temporary change required is to update the SFTP and Server names with ‘’ instead of the usual ‘’.  From February 27th it will be neccessary to revert to the previous setting, replacing with

We appreciate that this work may cause an inconvenience.  It is important to note that the work undertaken here will reduce future disruptions to this service and greatly improve functionality and processing speeds within the service.  This work will also involve upgrading all applications running on the web server, and webauthors may wish to note that PHP will be upgraded to version 5.5.8 and MySQL to version 5.1.69.
