TCD Password Manager overview (students)

TCD Password Manager lets you manage your Trinity network login password. This password is used for services such as student Wi-Fi, local web access, access to online Library resources, the my.tcd.ie web portal and Blackboard. It is not possible to use Password Manager to change your student MyZone password. If you use Password Manager to change your network login password, then you can separately change your MyZone password to match it by using the Settings available within MyZone after logging in (if you know your current MyZone password), or by choosing the 'Set Password' option at mypassword.tcd.ie which sets both the network login password and your MyZone password.

Activate TCD Password Manager

To activate TCD Password Manager you need to create a 'Questions and Answers Profile'.

Before you start here are some things you should note:

  • You will need your network login password to activate TCD Password Manager
  • TCD Password Manager does not update your MyZone password
  • The answers are case sensitive. This is particularly important when entering names.
  • You should try to choose questions where the answers are unlikely to change
  • You cannot provide the same answer to more than one question

Here are the steps required to activate TCD Password Manager:

  1. Browse to the TCD Password Manager login page at https://password.tcd.ie.

  2. Enter your username (do not include @tcd.ie) and under Select location: select COLLEGE (all student Trinity accounts are in the COLLEGE domain). Click OK.

  4. Click My Questions and Answers Profile and type your network login password when prompted.
  5. If you do not know your current network login password, you will need to come to the IT Service Desk with your current staff ID card and we can reset your password here.

  6. Enter your answers to a set of four security questions. Two of these questions are set and you may choose which other two questions to provide an answer for. You will be asked to provide the answers to some of these questions if you ever forget your password or if your account becomes locked out.

  7. Click Finish.

Using TCD Password Manager

Once activated, TCD Password Manager will have the following options available after you sign in at https://password.tcd.ie:

Setting a New Network Login Password if you have Forgotten it or it has Expired

Note:

  • You can only change your password once every 24 hours using Password Manager.
  • The steps below will allow you set a new network login password, but will not update your MyZone password. After completing the steps below, to update both the MyZone password and network login password so they are the same, use the 'Set Password' link at mypassword.tcd.ie.
  1. Browse to the TCD Password Manager login page at https://password.tcd.ie.

  2. Enter your username (do not include @tcd.ie) and under Select location: select COLLEGE (all student Trinity accounts are in the COLLEGE domain). Click OK.

  3. Select Forgot My Password from the list of options.

  4. Enter the answers to displayed set of questions, which you have provided answers for previously.

  5. Type and confirm your new network login password. Click Finish to proceed.

Note:

  • You can only change your password once every 24 hours using Password Manager.
  • Setting your network login password using the TCD Password Manager does not update your MyZone password. For this reason, if you know your current network login password, then we recommend using the 'Set Password' link at mypassword.tcd.ie to change both your network login and MyZone passwords at the same time.
  1. Browse to the TCD Password Manager login page at https://password.tcd.ie.

  2. Enter your username (do not include @tcd.ie) and under Select location: select COLLEGE (all student Trinity accounts are in the COLLEGE domain). Click OK.

  3. Click Manage My Passwords

  4. Type your current network login password

  5. Type and confirm your new network login password. Click Finish to proceed.

Unlocking Your Account

  1. Browse to the TCD Password Manager login page at https://password.tcd.ie.

  2. Enter your username (do not include @tcd.ie) and under Select location: select COLLEGE (all student Trinity accounts are in the COLLEGE domain). Click OK.

  3. Click Unlock My Account.

  4. Enter the answers to displayed set of questions, which you have provided answers for previously.

  5. Select the option to Unlock My Account. Click Finish to proceed.
