Master in Reconciliation Studies

Learning to Transform Relationships

Welcome to the Master in Reconciliation Studies within the M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation

The Reconciliation Studies specialism offers an inter-disciplinary approach to the challenges of social reconciliation in the aftermath of political conflict, drawing on social research, politics, theology, ethics and civil society discourse. Particular attention is given to ethnic conflicts, and the role of religion in such conflicts and in peacebuilding and reconciliation. Case studies typically include: Northern Ireland; South Africa; Zimbabwe; Rwanda; El Salvador; Guatemala; Israel/Palestine; Afghanistan; and Sri Lanka.

The programme incorporates study at Trinity's specialist cross-border School campus in Belfast, as well as the main campus in Dublin. It combines academic study and research with community involvement and reflection on life-experience.

The M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation accepts students from the European Union and from countries that do not require a visa to study in Ireland, including the United States and Canada. For a list of countries whose citizens are not required to obtain an Irish visa, click here. For a list of countries whose citizens may not enter the UK (the UK includes Belfast, Northern Ireland) without a visa, click here. Applicants should check these lists before they apply.
