Welcome to International Peace Studies
Ireland is increasingly recognised as a world-leader in the scholarship and practice of peacebuilding. ISE's International Peace Studies programme is the longest-running of its kind on the island. Our students are immersed in a cutting-edge programme of study that examines the causes and consequences of war and armed conflict, with a view to understanding how to achieve sustainable peace. Courses draw on perspectives from politics and political science, international relations, ethics and conflict resolution, allowing students to engage critically with the social, political and economic issues associated with peace and violence. Core themes include peace-keeping, peace-building, conflict resolution, ethics, international relations, development and gender.
