Rev. Harold Good in discussion with Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation students in Belfast

On 11th October, ISE Belfast was delighted to welcome Rev. Harold Good, well known in these islands and beyond for a lifetime of peacemaking work. Rev. Good, who is a former President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, was one of two independent witnesses of IRA weapons decommissioning in 2005. In recent weeks, he was one the mediators involved in the resolution of the bitter three-year parading dispute in North Belfast. He has been involved in grassroots cross-community work and back-channel dialogue for decades. In a moving and inspirational session, Rev. Good described his journey in peacemaking, the setbacks and successes, and the importance of keeping hope and dialogue alive even in the most challenging of contexts.
