Welcome to our new colleague Dr Brendan Browne!

Dr Brendan Ciarán Browne has recently been appointed Assistant Professor in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation and has joined the Irish School of Ecumenics after a year spent living and working as an academic at Al Quds University, Palestine.

His core research interests are focussed on political conflict, the impact of conflict on children and young people, commemoration in conflict and conducting research in conflict zones. Dr Browne is a graduate of Queen's University Belfast where he was awarded an undergraduate and masters degrees in Law (LL.B) and Law and Human Rights (LL.M) respectively. His PhD (2012) was awarded through the school of Sociology and was an examination of Irish republican and Palestinian commemorative practices. He has experience of conducting social research in conflict zones, in particular the West Bank, Palestine, an area where his research continues to be based.
