Former Belfast MPhil student, Kjelsie Haas publishes her award winning dissertation on truth and trauma

Kjelsie Haas, former MPhil student in Conflict Resolution, Belfast has recently had an article accepted for publication based on her dissertation submitted last August.

The dissertation, supervised by Dr Brendan Ciarán Browne, examined the issue of truth recovery and trauma in the context of post-apartheid South Africa and transitional Belfast. The work (which was awarded the prize for best dissertation 2016/17) involved spending 3 weeks researching in South Africa with participants in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, including; former psychologists and victims and survivors of the apartheid regime. The article is entitled: 'Exploring the link between trauma and truth in post-conflict societies: comparing 'post-conflict' Northern Ireland and post-apartheid South Africa' and will be available in the Journal for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Conflict Affected Areas.
