SummaryA documentary profile of Sheila Wingfield (or Lady Powerscourt) based on her memoirs. The programme focuses on her lack of recognition as a poet of merit, despite her support from stalwarts of the literary scene such as William Butler Yeats, Elizabeth Bowen and John Betjeman. The film seeks to rehabilitate her reputation while attempting to account for her alcohol and drugs addictions. Contributions from biographer Penny Perrick, poet Eavan Boland, lecturer in Modern English (UCC) Alex Davis, Grainne Langriche, Delia Meacle (Bellair & Powerscourt Staff), and Sheila Wingfield’s son, Guy Wingfield.
