Opening a bank account

There are several national banks in Ireland. One of them, Bank of Ireland, has facilities on campus. It is located adjacent to the Atrium under the Dining Hall. Bank of Ireland has dedicated student officers who deal with general financial issues.

To open any bank account, you are required by law to show valid proof of identity, complete with photograph and proof of address. On request, the International Office can provide a letter confirming you are a Trinity student and listing your home and Dublin addresses.

This letter can be obtained:

Prior to registration:

  • Full Degree Non EU students – International Office
  • EU Visiting students – International Office
  • Non-EU Visiting Students – International Office
  • Erasmus Students – International Office

After registration

  • Full Degree Non-EU – Student Records
  • EU Visiting students – International Office
  • Non-EU Visiting Students – International Office
  • Erasmus Students – International Office
  • Postgraduate students – Student Records

There are normally no fees charged on student bank accounts.
