Opening a bank account

There are several national banks in Ireland. One of them, Bank of Ireland, has facilities on campus. It is located adjacent to the Atrium under the Dining Hall. Bank of Ireland has dedicated student officers who deal with general financial issues.

To open any bank account, you are required by law to show valid proof of identity, complete with photograph and proof of address. On request, the International Admissions or the Study Abroad desk can provide a letter confirming you are a Trinity student and listing your home and Dublin addresses.

This letter can be obtained:

Prior to registration:

  • Full Degree Non EU students – International Admissions desk
  • EU Visiting students –International Admissions desk
  • Non-EU Visiting Students –International Admissions desk
  • Erasmus Students –Study Abroad desk

After registration

  • Full Degree Non-EU – Student Records
  • EU Visiting students –International Admissions desk
  • Non-EU Visiting Students –International Admissions desk
  • Erasmus Students – Study Abroad desk
  • Postgraduate students – Student Records

There are normally no fees charged on student bank accounts.
