Opening a bank account

There are several national banks in Ireland. One of them, Bank of Ireland, has facilities on campus. It is located adjacent to the Atrium under the Dining Hall. Bank of Ireland has dedicated student officers who deal with general financial issues.

To open any bank account, you are required by law to show valid proof of identity, complete with photograph and proof of address. On request, the International Admissions or the Study Abroad desk can provide a letter confirming you are a Trinity student and listing your home and Dublin addresses.

Once you have registered, this letter can be obtained from the Academic Registry with a 1-2 day wait from the time of request. Alternatively, you can print your letter from the portal at my.tcd.ie (again, after registration) and then bring it to the Academic Registry to get it stamped and signed there and then.

There are normally no fees charged on student bank accounts.
