Appeals

Introduction

The University Board has recently approved an Appeals Policy for the decisions of the Review Committees for Administrative, Professional and Support Staff. The Appeals Policy is intended to cover all Administrative, Executive, Secretary Technical, Library and Professional grades of staff.

The Process

The Process for appealing is

Step 1- Review application and policy and decide on reason for appeal

Step 2 - Seek endorsement of appeal as appropriate/set out in the form.

Step 3 - Submit the appeal (on the correct form) by email to the Chair of the Committee – please be aware of timelines, no exceptions will be made.  Include all relevant paperwork, and your original application for promotion.

Step 4 - The Ad Hoc Appeals Committee will review and assess your appeal and

Step 4a - If required the Ad Hoc Appeals Committee may wish to consult with you (the Appellant), Line Manager(s), and/or the relevant Review Committee.

Step 5 – Outcome/Decision – the Ad Hoc Appeals Committee will communicate their decision to you in writing and will report to the Board.

2015 Arrangements & Timeline

Administrative, Secretarial, Executive and Executive Officer, and Senior Executive Officer Staff, Assistant Librarian

(Reviewed by the Administrative and Library Staff Review Committee, and the Secretarial and Executive Staff Review Committee)

2015:    Appeals must be made in writing (and sent by Email) using the required form no later than Friday 18th December 2015.  No exceptions will be made.

Technical staff and Library Staff

(Reviewed by the Technical Staff Review Committee and the Library Staff Review Committee)

2015:   On Completion of the Review Process (which is expected in Approximately November) appeals must be made in writing (and sent via Email) using the required form within eight working weeks from the date on the letter of notification sent to staff members informing them of the decision or recommendation arising from their application.

Appeals should be sent to ATSLStaffAppeals@tcd.ie.

Decisions

If a claim is upheld it will be referred back to the original Review Committee for review.  The Decision of the Ad Hoc Appeals Committee is final.

A single Ad Hoc Appeals Committee has now been established by the Board to hear appeals.
