Induction for Newly appointed Heads of School
Introduction
The position of Head of School is an increasingly challenging one that embraces both academic and managerial leadership in the context of teaching, research, financial and human resource responsibilities. Current Heads of School operate against the background of significant change that affects the operation and running of College. This includes the three-faculty structure, new senior positions and reallocation of responsibilities.
This programme sets out facilitate the ‘on-boarding’ process for the new incumbents by providing an introduction to the various aspects of the role of Head of School.

Aims of the Induction:
- to provide an introduction to the role of Head of School, and to provide an opportunity to clarify and discuss issues on a College wide basis
- to identify and clarify the responsibilities of the Head of School and how it relates to other key positions in the newly emerging structure
- to provide participants with essential information and knowledge that will assist them in their role
- to explore leadership issues in the context of the changing College environment
- to identify areas for further development.
