Career Planning

Career development is a responsibility shared between the individual and the organisation. Trinity College support staff in developing their careers through a variety of initiatives including the PMDS and relevant training and development supports.

Whatever your current post, role or grade, there are common practical steps you can take to develop your career and fulfill your potential, hopefully within the University.

Career-building takes a lot of time, effort and commitment on your part, but you will gain valuable knowledge about your skills, values, needs and aspirations. Once you start on this path, all kinds of directions may open up to you that you haven't thought of before.

Some questions you might consider:

  • What is my next career goal?

  • What opportunities and challenges are there for me right now?

  • What possibilities can I explore?

  • What resources do I need?

  • Who can I talk to about this?

  • What practical steps can I take now to move closer to my goal?

Staff can develop their ability to manage their own careers though PMDS and availing of training modules on:

  • Developing My Career Plan

  • Interview Skills
