Joint Honor History (TR001)
The history courses in Two Subject Moderatorship (TSM) deal with various periods of Irish, European, British and American history, ranging from medieval times to the present day.
In each of the first two years students take two courses, one of which is compulsory and the other chosen from a list of four or five. In the third year, students take a single subject of their choice, studying the topic in detail with particular attention to original sources as well as to the historical literature. There are also courses in medieval archaeology taught in the final two years.
For those who decide to take the final year in history, two special subject courses are taken. These courses are taught through lectures, tutorials and coursework and are assessed by examination. Students are also required to prepare a dissertation based on a critical survey of original sources.
