Biography

I am originally from England, and moved to Dublin in 2006 to study for a BA in History at Trinity. I am currently studying for an MPhil in Early Modern History.

Research

‘French Protestant Identities in England c.1640-1680: The Du Moulin Brothers.’
My research analyses the careers of brothers Peter and Lewis Du Moulin who emigrated from Paris to England in the 1620s. Sons of prominent Huguenot theologian Pierre Du Moulin, the brothers took different trajectories during the War of the Three Kingdoms. Peter was an Anglican churchman who remained loyal to the Stuart monarchy, while Lewis became an apologist for the Cromwellian regime and critic of Anglican episcopacy. I will study the political and religious written works of these brothers, aiming to reconstruct their relationship with the Anglican Church and non-conformity. I will also study their links with Calvinism on the Continent, and the extent to which they remained involved in, and influenced by, issues that affected their brethren abroad.
