Biography

I graduated with a BA in Single Honours History from Trinity College, Dublin. I started my PhD in Trinity in autumn 2011 under the supervision of Dr. Robert Armstrong, and I am funded by the Irish Research Council.

Research

‘Conscience and Allegiance: An Investigation into the Controversy over Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy during the reign of William III and II’.
I research the debates over allegiance in the Three Kingdoms following the Revolution of 1688. With the flight of James II, and his replacement by William of Orange, a great debate erupted over whether or not the subjects could give allegiance to William. Both the political and religious aspects of this debate will be examined in my thesis.
