Biography
After graduating with a BSc from DIT, I spent some years writing and travelling in Europe and Asia. In 2012 I returned to Ireland to begin the MPhil in Early Modern History.
Research
'Images of Water in the Elizabethan Conquest of Ireland'.
My research aims to demonstrate the centricity of water in the Elizabethan conquest of Ireland primarily through an exegesis of cartographical sources. It will examine how both native and foreigner engaged in a struggle for the control of bogs, marshes, rivers, lakes and the surrounding seas. Whoever could successfully utilise water to realise their vision of homeland would ultimately gain hegemony over the entire island.
