Volunteering

As part of our mission to serve the international community and educate global citizens, Trinity College Dublin encourages its students and staff to dedicate their time, talents and energy to a wide-range of causes at home and abroad. From our domestic educational access programmes to wide-ranging service trips around the world, the Trinity College Dublin community is committed to making meaningful contributions to international development.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENTCIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Trinity College Dublin has a dedicated Civic Engagement Officer who assists staff and students looking to work with communities beyond the College gates. An annual volunteer fair is held on campus to advertise service opportunities. Trinity students contribute to a range of international volunteer organisations every year.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENTSUAS

Students from Trinity College Dublin established Suas Educational Development Initiative in 2002, believing that the best way of making a difference was through education. In addition to organising a Global Issues Seminar Series to discuss international development issues, the volunteer programme sends around 90 volunteers to India and Kenya for 10 weeks each summer to work as teachers' assistants in local schools. The volunteers develop their personal and professional skills, such as teamwork, leadership and planning, while learning from this intercultural experience. Most importantly, they share the benefits of a Trinity education with underserved student communities in Asia and Africa.
