Indian Tempest Headlines Trinity Shakespeare Festival 2012
An exciting international adaptation of William Shakespeare’s final comedy The Tempest entitled the Indian Tempest, will headline the 2012 Trinity College Dublin Shakespeare Festival (June 6th to 16th). Performed by Footsbarn Travelling Theatre who has strong links with the Indian state of Kerala, the headline performance will take place each evening in a specially constructed outdoor theatre in the Front Square of Trinity College Dublin.
Renowned for their exciting adaptations of the classics of Shakespeare and Moliere, and for transcending language barriers with their unique blend of visual theatre and music, Footsbarn’s Indian Tempest is set on a timeless imaginary Island where music rules everything. The play brings together magic and illusion, desire and romantic love, dreams and ambition, as well as treachery and torment, all of which have been fused together with more than a dash of comedy.
2012 marks the fourth year of the Trinity College Dublin Shakespeare Festival, the largest outdoor theatre festival in Ireland. Organised by the Dublin University Players and supported by the TCD Association and Trust, the festival features over 60 different performances of William Shakespeare's work across 11 days, all of which will take place throughout Dublin's most idyllic locations. The festival promises spectators a mix of comedy, music, tragedy, poetry and spectacle performed in settings that will add to the atmosphere and drama. A full programme of events is available on the festival website, www.dublinshakespeare.com.
