Lady Shri Ram College for Women in Delhi Fosters Academic Links with Ireland's Leading University, Trinity College Dublin

Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi and Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, signed a new partnership agreement in Delhi (Monday 26th November 2012). The Principal of Lady Shri Ram College, Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath and the President of Trinity College Dublin, Dr Patrick Prendergast, together signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will serve as a framework to help develop research links between the two institutions and encourage academic and cultural interchange.

Speaking at the special event in Delhi, President of Trinity College Dublin, Dr Patrick Prendergast said: “Lady Shri Ram College is a pillar of academic excellence and this agreement will not only enable both institutions collaborate in teaching and research but will also form the foundations of a student exchange agreement that will offer a unique international dimension to the educational experience.”

Commenting on the new partnership, Principal of Lady Shri Ram College, Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Trinity College, Dublin which combines a 400 year old tradition and history with the latest in innovation and creativity. Its alumna includes writers like Samuel Beckett and Jonathan Swift and philosophers such as Edmund Burke and George Berkeley. We have much to learn from this collaboration and hope to be truly empowered by this partnership.”

The announcement was made during the largest-ever education mission to India, led by Minister for Training and Skills, Ciarán Cannon TD, organised by Enterprise Ireland.
