Institute of Preventive Medicine

Research for Better Health

The mission of the Institute for Preventive Medicine is to develop an international standard research facility at the TCD AMNCH (Tallaght) site, covering the spectrum of research disciplines from bench sciences, through clinical to epidemiological and on to population health sciences and to foster a dissemination and advocacy strategy for the research output of the Institute.

The research disciplines will range from bench sciences (molecular, biological, genetic), through clinical and epidemiological to population health (social policy, health psychology, health economics).

As well as aiming primarily for peer-reviewed publications in high impact International journals, a dissemination and advocacy strategy will be adopted for the research output of the Institute in order to maximize the impact of the Institute on Irish society and on the health of the Irish people.  In addition, the research programme will contribute to the International literature and will have wider impacts abroad.

The research activities of the Institute will be complemented by undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes.

The building has been identified for purchase. The estimated building cost is €10m with €4m commitment to date.
Ongoing funding will be sourced through peer reviewed programmes, research grant income, philanthropy and commissioned work funds.
