Refurbishment of the Moyne Institute

Supporting Microbiology Research

The Normanby Charitable Trust contributed another round of funding to the refurbishment of theMoyne Institute of Preventive Medicine, a building presented to the College in 1953 by Grania Guinness (now the dowager Marchioness of Normanby) in memory of her father, the first Baron Moyne. Lady Normanby and her family have taken a keen interest in the development of the Department of Microbiology, funding the construction of major extensions to the research space in the building in 1994.

With €250,000 received by the Trust in April 2009, refurbishment planning is in progress and due to be carried out in the summer of 2010.
