About the Equality Fund
The Equality Fund is made available to staff and student applications on a competitive basis for a variety of equality projects within College. The Equality Fund aims to facilitate equality initiatives and to promote and celebrate diversity in all College areas.
Initiatives will be considered relating to all 9 grounds of discrimination (age, gender, marital status, family status, race and ethnicity, membership of the traveller community, disability, sexual orientation and religion and belief) and for other diversity groups which may be of particular relevance. Each round of funding will outline some priority themes for applications (detailed below).
The Fund is specially designed to facilitate innovative and creative equality projects. A balance will be sought in the adjudication of funds to student initiatives and staff initiatives where possible; collaborative projects will be valued.
Eligibility
Proposals from academic, administrative and support areas/departments and student groups that are deemed beneficial to the College community will be considered eligible.
Both individual department and collaborative projects will be considered, as well as joint staff and student initiatives.
Criteria
The Fund will be awarded to projects, events, workshops and other initiatives that aim to raise awareness on equality issues and promote diversity in college. A series of themes will be selected for each funding round.
Examples might include themed events, exhibitions, performances, publications, specific training or workshops, amongst others.
Proposals will be judged with consideration to the following: their relevance to the selected theme; the suitability and expected benefit of the project, both locally and for the wider college community; the originality and creative approach of the project; the cost of the project; and whether there may be other sources of funding for the project.
Limitations
The Fund will not be adjudicated to projects that should otherwise be centrally funded by College, CSC, departments or other sources.
The Fund will not normally fund usual academic activities such as conferences, course development or fourth year projects.
Costs associated with catering and refreshments will not be funded by the Equality Fund.
