The Anti-Bullying Research & Resource Centre

The Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre was set up by Dr. Mona O'Moore in the Education Department of TCD. It was opened officially in January, 1996 following work done by Dr. O'Moore and her team on the Nationwide Survey of Bullying at School in Ireland.

The Anti-Bullying Centre is an independent research body targeting the area of bullying. Its aims are to:

  • conduct research into the multi-level and multi-factorial nature of bullying behaviour.
  • create greater awareness and understanding of bullying behaviour.
  • promote ways and means by which bullying behaviour may be prevented or reduced.
  • provide advice, guidance, counselling and resource materials for researchers, parents, schools and organisations seeking to counter bullying behaviour.

As researchers began to contact the centre , a resource library was set up.

The Resource side of the centre, including counselling and "victim support" aspects, evolved as a result of research.  It evolved from the demand of schools, organisations and individuals searching for information and options in regard to bullying.
