Equality Office - Trinity College Dublin

About the Equality Officer

Karen Campos McCormack was appointed Equality Officer in 2006.

The Equality Officer’s aim is to promote equality for staff and students, in all areas of College life, with particular regard to the nine grounds of discrimination in equality legislation and to support College in achieving its objectives for inclusiveness.

The Equality Officer advises the Equality Committee and Board on compliance with Equality legislation – Equal Status Acts 2000-2010, Employment Equality Acts 1998-2010 and Disability Act 2005 and Universities Act 1997 – and assists in the development of College policies and practices from an equality perspective. A key element of the Equality Officer’s role is to implement education and awareness programmes for staff and students.

The Equality Officer is the designated Secretary to the Equality Committee, secretary to the Equality Fund Sub-Committee and the Monitoring Advisory Group.

The Equality Officer does not deal with disciplinary actions or harassment cases, but is available to provide information on equality policies, and welcomes student and staff suggestions on how equality interests may be promoted in College.

You can find further information about some of the initiatives the Equality Officer is involved in on this site, including the College Equality Fund, equality monitoring in College and the LEAD programme.
